The creative unfolding of the universe – both cosmic and personal – takes place before your eyes in this spellbinding experience for the senses, mind and soul.
A three-decade labor of passion by acclaimed director Terrence Malick (Days of Heaven, The Thin Red Line, The Tree of Life), Voyage of Time is at once an electrifying journey into our planetary past and an emotional search for humanity’s place in the evolving future. Humming with the energy of creation itself, the film melds innovative special effects with global footage – bursting open the lines of film narrative to become at once an interactive time machine into the unseen history of our planet … and a personal discovery of the beauty and tumult of human lives.
Perfection is everywhere. Everything is in its place. Yet, what does it mean after all these eons to be us, right here, right now?
The story of Voyage of Time could not be more of epic. The action traces the scientific chronology of earth from the birth of the stars to the kaleidoscopic explosion of new life-forms to the planet-altering debut of humankind. But Malick invites audiences to probe these huge spans of time in intimate ways. In concert with a team of scientific advisors and visual effects artists led by Dan Glass (The Tree of Life, Batman Begins, The Matrix Reloaded) the film gives visual life to an array of never-witnessed scientific phenomena – celestial and terrestrial, macroscopic and microscopic – in breathtaking new ways.
